Filament style HID retrofit bulbs set themselves apart from other LED retrofit lights in two major ways. First, their LED diodes are covered in a phosphor coating giving them a unique filament style light source. While not an exact replicant of the arc tube of metal halide or sodium lights, the filament gives these bulbs more traditional and familiar feel than other LED corn cob lights.
